We posted last night before we had the chance to enjoy our homemade freeze-dried chicken risotto with mushrooms and spinach - Yummy! Then we gave each other haircuts to finish off the day!💇
Today we traveled 263 miles from Watson Lake YT to Emerald Lake YT, just north of Carcross, YT and south of Whitehorse, YT. The weather was a mix of cloudy, sunny, light rain, and from 42 to 64 degrees depending on altitude. It was a beautiful drive through mountains and by lakes and rivers all day.
We saw three (3) bears today, but the closest we got to a picture was this (We'll keep trying):
We stopped in Teslin, YT at the Nisutlin Trading Post and fueled up. We bought a Yukon t-shirt, and got a free box of crackers (Town House Flipsides - one side pretzel & one side cracker) 😊.
We saw several groups of bicyclists making this same journey, and we were awed by their determination and courage!
We went to Carcross, YT then up to Emerald Lake, which is gorgeous. There were three busloads of tourists looking at the lake when we arrived. One man out of the group of fifty (50) plus walked down to say hello, he turned out to be a very nice gentleman from Tuscaloosa, Alabama! It's such a small world!
Favorite bird: Short-billed or Mew Gull
